I am very sorry to hear of Paul's passing. He was a great guy to work beside, always calm and with a great sense of humour. I used to love his stories of growing up in the old north end and at St Peters ballpark. He was fine man and he will be missed!! Sincere condolences to family and friends. mike mcevoy

Mr. James was my grade 10 English teacher at Simonds High school in 1985. He was an amazing teacher and always had extra time for questions or comments. He helped with my poetry writing, which helped me submit one for the year book. I was so proud of myself and I owed it to his patience and insight.
I remember he liked classical music as it was always playing in his car when he drove by. He was a quiet man and a very friendly and caring teacher.
My condolences to all of his family and all who were close to him.

My sincere Condolences to Paul's Family.
Paul and I are the same age.
Paul is a great person to know. I did not get to see Paul often as I have lived in Ontario with my Redemptorist Community since 1962.
I would meet Paul sometimes when I would be in Saint John on holidays to visit my Family.
Blessings and Prayers

Dear Billy, Brenda, Emlyn, Francis and Families,
Our families were good friends as we grew up in the North End of Saint John. I have many fond memories of those special years on Clarendon Street. There was always a warm welcome at the James' home. Girlie made delicious cookies and was the best hair stylist ever. I had so much respect for Jack that I asked him to be the MC at our wedding, and he accepted. Although I moved away from Saint John many years ago, my parents kept me up to date with the happenings. They let me know that Paul and Peggy were a wonderful couple. In later years when I was back in my beloved hometown and happened to meet Paul, I was always greeted with his wonderful smile and he often pulled out an old photo to reminisce about those "idyllic" years.
Please accept our sincere condolences at this difficult time. May Paul rest in peace and may your precious memories bring God's consoling peace to your hearts.

To the family of Paul (Jesse) James.
I am sorry to hear of Paul's passing. I remember well playing with and against Paul from Little League and on. He was a great player. We would occasionally see each other on the street and always had enjoyable conversations. If asked I would describe him as a caring and gentle person, and a gentleman. I am pleased to have known him. I am certain he was wonderful husband and father.
Sincerely,
David Barry

I would like to express my sincere thoughts and prayers to the James family!! Emlyn you may or may not remember me but I taught you and taught with your mom and dad, too many years ago it reminds me I am getting older!! I was grateful to have known
both of your parents. Their intelligence and good humour helped me during troubled times when I was teaching. The
world is now a little older and a little more empty.
May Gods blessing and love be on your family! Allan Turnell

It was with sadness to hear of the recent passing of Paul "Jesse" James. Have a lot of fond and lasting memories of growing up with Paul and being a part of the many activities around the parish of St. Peter's and the North End.
I'd known Paul since Grade One at St. Peter's Boys School then on to St. Malachy's High School along with being a teammate of Paul's from Little League to Juvenile League Baseball. Paul was always a marvelous ball player who possessed superior skills, loved the game and was a great teammate. I'm sure he spend most of this early years hanging around St. Peter's Ball Park. Paul authored a book on the landmarks and history of Saint John's North End and growing up in this area of the "Port City" and should be required reading for all who grew up there in the 50's and 60's.
I know Paul will be missed by his family and his many friends who had the pleasure of knowing, working with and being his teammate. Our sincere condolences to the James family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. May he rest in peace.

Billy, sorry to read about the passing of your brother Paul. Many days we all spent in the ballpark watching him play ball and then watching you. It was a passion you both enjoyed. The sports community has lost another icon. Thinking of you at this sad time.
