Obituary of Greta Josephine Scott
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Greta J. (Larson) Scott, wife of the late Bruce Scott, on Friday, November 12, 2021, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born January 15, 1931, in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Mae (Ladds) Larson.
Greta was a life long resident of Saint John, spending her early years on the Strait Shore and later as a South Ender.
Always a story teller, she could make tales of old Chesley St. come alive.
With her great sense of humour, she considered her day to be complete if she made someone laugh.
Greta’s life was guided by her strong faith and focus on her family. She will be missed.
Greta is survived by her daughter, Nancy Scott; son, Douglas Scott (Paula); grandchildren: Kristen Scott (Callum Young) and Mitchel Scott; brother, William Larson; and nephew, Bill Larson.
Besides her parents and her spouse, she was predeceased by her brothers: Vernon, James, Donald, and Douglas.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of 3CS and 3BN for their skill and kindness during Greta’s stay.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Visitation will take place on Monday, November 15, 2021, from 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, from Brenan’s Chapel at 2 pm. Due to Covid-19 health measures placed on indoor gatherings by the Government of New Brunswick, all those 12 and older attending the service or visitation will be required to show proof of vaccination and a piece of a government-issued ID or proof of medical exemption.
For those who wish, remembrances to the Saint John Free Public Library or charity of donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Please place online condolences and remembrances at www.BrenansFH.com.
