BEAMISH, Viola “Vi” May –
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Vi Beamish announces her passing, which occurred at Turnbull Nursing Home, Saint John, N.B., on Dec. 1, 2021. Born in Saint John on September 2, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Gladys (Hodgin) Smith.
Vi will be forever missed by her daughters Nancy (Bernie) Murphy, Debbie (Kevin) Ferguson and Cathy (Les) Graham; her brother Alfred (Elaine) Smith of Sussex; her grandchildren, Steven (Bonnie) Dalling, Stacey (Les) Pugh, Angela Murphy (Pete Carey), Krista (Mike) Adams, Josh (Tara) Ferguson, Kiersten (Brad) Sheridan, Kelsey Ferguson (Andrew Chaisson), Raymond Graham and Samantha Graham; great-grandchildren Kayla, Tyler, Lora, Ally, Jack, Lucas, Liam, Teagan and Oliver; her great-great-granddaughter, Payton, as well as many of her nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Raymond; her daughter Patty; her sister Marg Nicholls; and several nieces and nephews.
Vi was a graduate of Saint John High School and worked briefly at Woolworth’s, before dedicating her life to raising her family and being the most kind, supportive and loving spouse, mother, and grandmother. She was a long-time, faithful member of St. Pius X Parish and CWL. Vi loved walking, shopping, feeding the birds, and spending time at her beloved summer place. Her greatest joy came from helping loved ones, sharing a pot of tea, feeding and being surrounded by family and friends.
Vi spent the last 8 years of her life under the care of the Turnbull Nursing Home. The family wishes to express their sincerest appreciation and gratitude to some of the staff members who showed her such kindness and compassion during this part of her journey; you became part of our extended family.
