Sis. Helen Tompkins, Family, Extended Family
It was with sadness that we learned of your dear husband’s passing. I shall remember with fondness my years in Moncton from ‘69 - ‘71 as a student at NBIT attending his church and helping with the music. You were always there to pick us up on Mountain Road to take us to church. We babysit Dawn who was just small so you could have an occasional evening out. Later Bro. Tompkins organized bus trips and I was privileged to go on one of those trips to Toronto General Conference.
Our condolences also on the loss of two of your brothers recently. That’s a lot of loss in a short time.
Bro. Tompkins will leave a big void. Cherish the good times and memories which live forever in our hearts. Praying for comfort, peace, and strength for you now and in the days ahead.
Sincerely, Brian and Janet (Christensen) Ingraham

Blessings on you, John's family. I remember John with fondness and laughter. We shared a course in CPE at CentreCare many years ago where we became friends. Later we ministered together again when I was Director for Spiritual Care at SJRH. He was a kind man full of the Spirit of God with a strong Call to serve. I heard many stories of his childhood, growing up and his ministry within the churches he served. He was a blessing to many, including myself. See you later Friend. Jim

Another great warrior for God has gone to his reward! Brother Tompkins has been a constant presence in my life and someone I looked up to very much. He had an unwavering faith is Jesus and his salvation. I know he prayed for me throughout my life and I'm so happy he got to hear about my receiving the Holy Ghost before he past. My deepest sympathy goes out to Sis Tompkins, Dawn and all the grandkids and great grandkids. Until we meet again Brother T. Love Talmadge.

Prayers and thoughts for all of you - Helen, Dawn and family. John was a special man; a true servant of God. He was a powerful example of what it means to shine the light. His life was a life of leadership, and he taught people through his example, what it means to follow Jesus Christ. Rest in Peace, John. God's blessing on his family.

Helen, Dawn and Darren, Myra and Matt, Justin, and Hannah, Richard and I are thinking about all of you at this sorrowful time for you and the other members of our extended family. It has been a brutal year for all of us and we share your sadness now with the loss of yet another member of our family, your husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather. Johnnie was a wonderful person, loving and kind. Memories that I have of him when I was just a teenager are fond. He stood large in our lives those many years ago, and continued throughout his life to be an important and very much loved member of our family. He will be greatly missed by all of us. Our loving thoughts go out to you now, and our prayers for comfort and peace will be ongoing. With much sympathy and love, Richard and Donna.

John was an incredibly wonderful brother-in-law to me. I was 17 years old when he and my sister, Helen, drove me from New Brunswick to St Paul, Minnesota to help me settle in Apostolic Bible College. While in school, many were the times a letter would arrive from Helen and John with a much needed and appreciated monetary gift. I can never forget the times John and Helen would drive to Bangor, ME to pick me up and return me to the airport when I visited NB. My temporary home in NB was in their basement level where I had my room and a bathroom that John had installed just for me…I think! I remember hours of fellowship around the table and many Tim Horton trips!!! John loved people. He never met a stranger. He cared about others and gave of himself to help whenever he could. I will always remember wonderful times together. Farewell for now, John. I know you are rejoicing in the place you spent your life dreaming about. You fought a good fight. You have gone to a great reward. We will miss you always and look forward to some day joining the hosts of heaven where we will see you again!

Sorry for your loss. Remember when he was our youth pastor at the Argyle street church in Fredericton (late sixties). When he became pastor in Moncton a group of us came down one weekend to assist in outreach. Remember the tour bus trips to general conference in the eighties. My mother-in-law was on the trip to Philadelphia. Always a friendly man who had time to speak to me. Last spoke to him in Sussex this summer. God bless and comfort you.
