As a 16 year old boy, I remember taking a car over to Kelley's ignition for my dad Alden MacKnight. I noticed that Mr. Kelley had a garden in the front of his house. I asked him why he didn't have grass there. He remarked " You can't eat grass son" When ever I saw Mr. Kelley there was always a lesson to be learned. He was always kind to me. I remember him fondly. May God Bless you all at this difficult time. Scott MacKnight

If you grew up in Glen Falls you certainly knew Mr Kelley.....especially if you needed some electrical work on a vehicle. On behalf of the Dobson Family our sincere condolences to George's family on his passing. He was a gentle and kind soul who always amazed me in recognizing us where ever we may have seen him. May the many memories he made with everyone be of comfort during this time.

Jill, John and family please accept my deepest sympathy in the passing of your father. He was one of the nicest gentleman/ veteran I have ever had the priviiledge to visit as a nurse over the past 15 or more years. He was such an interesting man to talk with and to attend to, always so kind and appreciative. I bragged about him and how active and smart he was for his age almost every day.. He was so spunky and so in touch with the world around him. But then Covid came and took away his beloved volunteer job at the food bank and his attendence at his beloved church. As Covid wore on his mobility and zest for life were decreasing with each visit. I had my last visit with him on Nov24 and he was bright and alert and wished me well on my retirement. i gave him a hug and wiped a tear or two from my eyes as i went out of his room . RIP Mr. Kelley I will never forget you.

John, Gill and family,
We are so saddened to hear of the passing of George.
We have known him for many years,
when he lived and worked on Golden Grove Road, then he moved up to Glengarry Dr.
across the street from our mom Evelyn Speight.
We would see him all the time out in the yard working around .
he would have a smile and a great wave. May he rest in peace

To The Kelley Family:
I was so sorry to hear of Mr. Kelley’s passing. I first met Mr. Kelley and his wife at St.Mary & St. Bartholomew’s Church. I also had the pleasure of having my car serviced at his garage on the Golden Grove Road where he was very friendly and his work was excellent. When I went to study in Halifax I lost contact with him but upon my return I again met him on several occasions. He still had that friendly smile, extending his welcoming hand and always ready for a little chat. I am very happy he had a long happy life. My God grant him eternal rest and to his family I offer sincere sympathy.
Rev. Wally Collett.

From the moment I met George ("Grampie") Kelley, I knew he was a special person. He was forever kind and welcoming each time I saw him; regardless of circumstance or setting. I will never forget his genuine goodness, his warm hand-holds, and the sparkle in his eye when he spoke of his family. I share in the heartbreak that all those who knew and loved him are experiencing, and will miss him dearly. He was without a doubt, one in a million. Rest in peace "Grampie". Beth Keyes

On behalf of our members of the Jervis Bay Memorial 53, Royal Canadian Legion, and of 250 (Saint John) Wing, RCAF Association, we offer our deepest sympathies on the passing of George, a Life Member of both or our organizations. I am thankful that George was with us for Remembrance Day again this year, and cut the ribbon to our new Legion memorial, the Stairway to Service, along with fellow veteran Glennis Boyce. George's name and boot print are permanently engraved on this new memorial.
Thank you George for your service to our country and community, but also for your kind, gentle, friendship you offered to me over the past few years.

I was very sorry to hear of the loss of George. I met him just this fall at Shannex, but had many short visits in the hall during that time. He was lovely with a wonderful twinkle in his eye and he will be missed there. My Dad knew him from the machine shop and said he was a great guy too. Just wanted you to know we will miss him too.

We would like to offer our condolences to George’s family. If you look George Kelly up in the dictionary the definition would be “true gentleman”. We can’t remember a storm that would stop him from his daily visits to the hospital to visit his wife. He was a kind, gentle soul who was respected by everyone who met him. We remember how loyal he was to the East Saint John Food bank. He worked there with Danny’s mom Rita McCarthy for years and she spoke of him so often with such kindness. This world needs so many more George Kellys in it.
