Obituary of Brenton Frederick Cook
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Brenton Frederick Cook announces his passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on December 20, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born July 20, 1947, he was a son of the late Frederick William and Muriel Helen (Rafter) Cook.
Brenton was a talented handyman who could fix nearly anything you brought to him, and though he might grumble, beneath that tough exterior was a man who cared and would do anything to lend a hand to someone in need. He was loyal and hardworking, but he also knew how to enjoy himself and loved spending time fishing when he had the chance. He will be missed by so many.
Brenton is survived by his loving wife Raelene Cook; daughter: Tracy (Paul) Petryshen; son; Jeffrey (Crystal) Cook; grandchildren Ryan McKay, Kenda Cooper, and Sean Cooper; great-granddaughter: Amelia McKay; brother; David Cook; extended family: Carlie and Carl; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Brenton was predeceased by his brothers Lawrence and Burton Cook.
The family would like to give an extra special thank you to Brenton’s oncologist Dr. Samantha Gray, the staff of the SJRH Palliative Care Unit, and the NB Extramural Program for your kindness, compassion, and care during his valiant battle.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, from 12 PM – 2 PM with a Funeral Service starting at 2 PM. Due to Covid-19 health measures placed on indoor gatherings by the Government of New Brunswick, all those 12 and older attending the visitation and service will be required to show proof of vaccination and a piece of government-issued ID or proof of medical exemption. Please join the family following the interment to continue in Celebrating Brenton’s Life at the Canada’s Best Value Inn, 10 Portland St. Saint John from 4 PM – 6 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Brenton may be made to the Canadian Red Cross, Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences can be placed at www.BrenansFH.com.
