Obituary of Georgia Buckley
It is with great sadness that the family of Georgia Buckley announce her peaceful passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on January 4th, 2022. Born in Bayswater, New Brunswick on July 30th, 1927, to the late George and Alberta Worden, and was the devoted wife to the late Gerald Buckley, with whom she shared a loving marriage of 49 years.
Georgia is survived by her sons Wayne Buckley (Wilma) of Bayswater, New Brunswick, Greg Buckley of Saint John, New Brunswick, and daughter Valerie Oliver (Tom) of Rothesay, New Brunswick. As well, her treasured grandchildren Melissa Foote (Mark), Ryan Buckley (Ashley), Kerri Buckley (John Boyd), Kristy Buckley (Joel Belliveau), Stephen Mosher (Kaitlin Newman), Erin Lamos (Jeremy), and Curtis Buckley. Step grandchildren, Sarah (Joe) Pascon, Jon (Jess) Oliver, Adam Walker, Ronda (Ryan) Leavitt. great-grandchildren Marissa, Hailey, Aiden, Angelina, Harper, Jack, Dylan, and baby boy Mosher arriving in March. Step great-grandchildren, Leo, Julia, Abby, Lily, Jack, Ryley, Tyler, and Kayla.
In addition to her parents and husband, Georgia was predeceased by her granddaughter Danielle Buckley.
Throughout her life, Georgia maintained an active social life, which included her involvement in the United Church, UCW, bowling leagues, square dancing, Red Hats, bingo, and cards. She had a love for travelling on bus trips, cruises, and spent many winters in Florida in retirement with her husband. Georgia found great joy in taking part in these social gatherings and events, however, her greatest joy was her family.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Murray Street Lodge for their kind and compassionate care of Mom during her stay. Further, acknowledgement is given to Dr. Lindsay MacDonald and her colleagues for the excellent care provided to Mom in her final years.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). With visitation on Saturday, January 8, 2022, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. A Funeral Service will follow beginning at 2:00 PM, Interment will take place in Wightman’s Cemetery, Kingston. Those unable to attend are welcome to view the service via Livestream. Due to Covid-19 health measures placed on indoor gatherings by the Government of New Brunswick, all those 12 and older attending the service will be required to show proof of vaccination and a piece of government-issued ID or proof of medical exemption. Donations in memory of Georgia may be made to the Summerville United Church, or to The Alzheimer Society of NB - Saint John Chapter. Online condolences may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com
