Obituary of Freeman Edward Cameron
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Freeman Edward Cameron of Hampton, NB, on March 7, 2022, at the age of 77. Born on October 22, 1944, to Albert and Nellie (Rooney) Cameron.
Freeman was the husband of Betty (McEwen) Cameron and the father of Sherry Foster (Steve), Freeman Cameron Jr., Mary Ann Cameron and Sandra O’Hearon (Billy). He was an awesome grandfather to Ryan McCoy (Halee), Ashley Swan (Matt) and Rebecca Foster (Jake); a loving great-grandfather to Cameron, Anderson and Alexander Swan and a bonus grandfather to Allison and Mathew O’Hearon.
Freeman grew up in Saint John with his brothers and sisters, Mary Lawrence (Al), Roger Cameron (Kathryn), Terry Cameron, Freddy Cameron, Johnny Cameron (Marion) and is survived by his sister, Vicki Saunders (Mark).
Freeman was loved by his in-laws, starting with his mother-in-law, Dorothy McEwen (Erskine); sisters-in-law, Ducky Greenslade, Debbie Caissie (Don), Wanda Sabean (Gary), Nancy Hubley (Earl) and Shelly McEwen (Andy). He was also blessed with many nieces and nephews and a greatly loved aunt, Jane Ashe (Bunny).
Freeman was a hard-working man that had many jobs. He was a cab driver, drove dump truck, worked at Brett Motors and finished his career at Buzzles Auto Parts. He loved working on cars and racing from Hammond River Raceway to the old forum. His favourite place on earth was his home on the Hall Road in Hampton. He enjoyed many summer family barbeques and get-togethers and TV Bingo with Betty and Kim to working on the house with Jason, or having Dip and Chrissy in to visit. His time and our family’s time was made special by living beside neighbours, Rod and Tammie Fournier, who were always there for him and our family. Freeman’s best trait was his storytelling and he had a great sense of humour. He was a gentleman with a wild side, one who had many stories from living in the North End where friends became family and too many to list.
The family would like to thank Dr. Chris O’Brien and the staff at the Loch Lomond Villa for their loving care.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). A graveside service will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 11:00 AM. For those wishing to attend, you are asked to please arrive at Brenan’s by 10:30 AM to go in procession with the family. Honourary pallbearers will be Gary McLellan, Kenny Olsen, Dip Duplessis, Rod Fournier, Jason Scullion, Danny Pye, Mark Saunders and Francis Duplessis.
For those who wish, donations to Bobby’s Hospice as a thank you to Dr. Chris O’Brien would be appreciated by the family.
