Obituary of Mildred Lucy Chase
Surrounded by her family, Mom passed away on March 18th, 2022, at the Turnbull Nursing Home in her 101st year. Min was born on September 8th, 1921, in Saint John.
Mom is survived by her 5 children, Rene (Stanley), George (Carla), Joanne (Nelson), Sandra (Mariner) and Joe (Sandra); 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Dawn; as well as many nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, Ernest Chase; her parents and stepfather, George; her infant children, Paula, Douglas and Dorothy; her brothers, Albert, Bernard and George; her sister, Dorothy and her granddaughter, Jennifer Spencer.
It impossible to celebrate the 101 years that Mom lived here on earth in just a few words and I'm sure she would have said "that's not necessary.” As her children we all had to search for ways to explain what she meant to us, and all 5 would have written a different book. Mom's successes in life came from the times when she would have every child in her home for holiday dinners. She somehow managed to fit 25 or 30 of us into her little home for a full three course plate of food and special individual treats for all.
She was an artist with her creations of quilts, sweaters, socks and mitts and every stitch was done with love.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (63407424). Visitation for Mildred will be held on April 1st, 2022 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Following the reception, the interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. The family requests that all guests in attendance wear a mask. Donations in Mildred’s memory can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Society.
