To Mrs. Gillis' Loved Ones - I am sad to hear of the loss of such a wonderful lady. I want to tell you how much she was loved by our family. Joe & Mirriam were great friends with my grandparents, Murray & Doris Carpenter for many, many years. They worked together on many projects at St. Davids, but also square danced, went to Seniors and visited with one another. Mrs. Gillis was also my grade 1 teacher. We all loved her well. She will be missed and I am sorry for your loss.

Duane, Brian and family. So sorry to hear of your Mom.
Although I worked at NBTel I was not introduced to your Mom & Dad until I co-ordinated the "heart pillow program". And yes you are right. I could never just drop off or pick up pillows without going in for a cup of tea. But never a chore as we always had great conversations. My Dad was from McAdam. Therefore we always had that in common. Your parents were so easy to love.Nice write-up of your Mom. xo Bless you all. Jackie Gilliland

Dear Brian and Duane-- Please accept condolences from Daryl and me on the loss of your mom.. She was a very gifted lady and I remember the poems she used to write for special occasions.. She and your father were a big part of my teen years. I also travelled with Joe and his cronies to NBTel every summer and the stories and laughs we had were the best.. My hope is that your parents are now reunited in heaven. God Bless. from Ann Caines (nee Allaby )

I have so many memories of this beautiful lady, from winding her clock to making ice cubes for her plant, she always told me no one could cut up an orange like me and she was always so well put together. I have a picture of Merriam dressed in her special Christmas outfit dancing with Santa Claus aka my late husband Bill, they both had so much fun at the Christmas parties . Merriam was proud of her family and always interested in mine. I've thought of her often since I was transferred from her floor. My thoughts and prayers will be with you as you go on this journey with your mom.

Brian, Duane and families, I'm so sorry to hear of your mom's passing! She led such a full wonderful life and touched so many of us. I'll never forget the summers we played school with Mrs. Gillis providing us with the worksheets that were left over from that year! Her house always smelled so good and we spent many days with Duane and friends down in the rec room. Your mom never told us we couldn't be there in your home! Such fond memories of our childhood and many of them were spent in your house and yard. Even the frog pond that your parents so generously let us skate on every winter and your mini bike...like I said, it was a great neighborhood and I'll never forget your parents, and especially the impact your mom had on me. I'll be praying for you all as you grieve your wonderful mom and friend to all!
