Obituary of Blake Douglas
It is with sadness that the family of Raymond Blake Douglas announce his peaceful passing at the Church of Saint John and St. Stephen Nursing Home on May 13, 2022. Born in Wickham, NB, he was the son of the late Albert and Velma (Mott) Douglas.
Before retiring from accounting at Chevron Canada, Blake worked for several years at a golf course in Vancouver. Despite his renowned clumsiness, he played lots of golf in the summers and enjoyed the snow in the winter. His favourite pastime was reading mystery novels, especially Agatha Christie books. He would make frequent trips to the library and would always have a book on the go. Blake also loved to play cards and the thrill of the slot machines.
Blake is survived by his friend and caretaker Paul Parlee; and brother: Hazen (Bella) Douglas; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Blake was predeceased by his sister Elizabeth A. Rail.
Blake’s family wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and nurses at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home for their kindness and caring.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). In keeping with Blake’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private interment will take place at a later date. Donations in Blake’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com.
