Obituary of Wynn Darrah
Winnifred Eleanor (McLeod) Darrah passed away peacefully at the Loch Lomond Villa on Monday, May 30, 2022 at 96 years old. Wynn (as she preferred to be called and would tell you so) was born in Saint John on June 23, 1925 to the late Lawrence and Dorothy Mae (McKay) McLeod.
Wynn was a woman that was full of energy, sass and opinions that never ran dry. While she was able, she lived every day to the fullest, jumping on any day trip bus tour she could sign up for, or visiting her family near and far as much as she possibly could. She had a zest for life and adventure that couldn’t be matched! Now, she wasn’t an extreme adventurer by any means, but she has eaten every lobster roll from St. Stephen to Halifax and to her that was wild!
She had a fierce love for her family and friends and was a caregiver to her core. If she visited you, she also did your dishes. That's just who she was. If you visited her, you could count on a cup of tea, a sweet treat and lots of conversation!
One of her most loved activities was going on a drive with her loved ones just to see the beautiful scenery. Yes, I mean trees. The woman loved trees! Especially in the fall. Give her an ice cream at the end of the drive and she was one happy lady!
In addition to her parents, Wynn was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, John B. Darrah; her sisters, Dot, Kay and Joan and her brother, Larry. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by her loving children, John Darrah (Cheryl) of Saint John, June Allen (Doug) of Belleisle Creek and Pat Darrah (Heather) of Saskatchewan; her grandchildren, Amber Brown (Jon) of Saint John, Ashley Miller (Mark) of Saint John, Alyssa Darrah of Antigonish, NS, Jennifer MacKay (Brad) of Sussex, Christopher Allen of Fredericton, Meaghan and Matthew Darrah of Saskatchewan and her great-grandchildren, Carter Darrah, Kailyn, James and Thomas Allen, Liam, Brennan and Elena MacKay.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Sunday, June 5, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The funeral liturgy will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Monday, June 6, 2022 at 10:00 AM.
