Obituary of Colleen Marie Theresa McKiel
The family of Colleen Marie Theresa McKiel announce her passing from heart related disease, on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at her residence. Born in Saint John on May 23, 1959, she was the daughter of the late L. William and Dorothy (Gaynes) McKiel. Colleen worked as a Registered Nurse for 35 years; first at St. Joseph’s Hospital and then at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Colleen is survived by her three brothers, William (Gail) of Innisfail, AB, Douglas (Theresa) of Hampton, NB and Paul (Anne) of Lawrencetown, NS; two sisters, Donna (John) McDermott, of Hammonds Plains, NS and Mary Susan (Jim) Gatien of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins who will miss her kindness and generosity. She will be also be missed by her dear friends, Duncan (Annabelle) Mcrae, Stephen (Ann) Wheaton and their children Neil and Andrew, Janice Conely and Carol Stevens; also her co-workers on 3CN at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Keeping with Colleen’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. For those who wish, remembrances in memory of Colleen may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, NB Eye and Tissue Bank (c/o St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation), St. Joseph’s Hospital, Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice. Interment will be held in the spring at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
