Obituary of Eldon William Goobie

At 87 years of age, Cecil William "Eldon" Goobie went to be with the Lord on February 16, 2016 at the Loch Lomond Villa. Eldon was predeceased by his wife Shirley (Chesley), brothers Frederick and Norman, sisters Lillian and Mildred. Eldon had fond memories of playing the Cornet in the Salvation Army Band and his love of music in the later years. He also enjoyed golf, fishing, gardening and playing pool. Eldon started his career with BF Goodrich in 1958 as credit manager in Saint John. He was promoted to manager in Moncton, later opening his own business- B&G Tire. He is survived by his children Linda (Fred) Nelson, Mark (Elaine), John (Sharon), and Trena (Cyril) Galbraith; his 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother Meyer and sister Sandra. The family would like to express a special thanks to the nurses and staff of the Loch Lomond Villa for their kindness and compassion shown to Eldon. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424), with visitation on Thursday, February 18, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 10:00 AM with a reception to follow. Interment will take place in the spring at Mace’s Bay. For those who wish, remembrances in memory of Eldon may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
