It is with heavy hearts that the family of E. Donald McKim, loving husband to Margaret (Hopkins) McKim, announces his passing, which occurred on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Embassy Hall. Born in Saint John on March 28, 1931, he was a son of the late Estey and Annie (Gibbs) McKim. Don was employed with the Freight Sales Department of CN Rail in Saint John. Following his retirement, he volunteered at the Self Help store. He and Margaret were members of St. Mark’s United Church for 54 years. Don was a member of the Golden K Service Club, and a former board member for the Library, Heritage Board and Transit Commission. Don is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret; his daughters Jane D’Entremont (Marc) and Sarah Duguid (Peter); his grandchildren, Nicholas, Alexander, James, Victoria and Catherine; a brother, Doug McKim; a sister-in-law, Thelma McKim; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Don was predeceased by a brother, Gordon McKim and a sister-in-law, Joyce McKim. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the management and staff of Shannex-Embassy Hall, Quispamsis for their compassionate care of Don during his stay with them. Your kindness is so appreciated and will never be forgotten. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). Although no visitation will take place, friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of Don’s life, which will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016 from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00pm. Interment will follow at Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
