Obituary of James T. Grannan M.Ed., M.A., B.Th.
It is with appreciation for a life well lived, that the family of James Thomas Grannan announces his passing, which occurred on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital with his family by his side. He was born on November 20, 1924 and was a son of the late Richmond and Elizabeth (Gorman) Grannan. Jim was a loving husband, father, and brother, who will be remembered as wise, caring and gentle. In his lifetime, he enjoyed a variety of careers and spent many years serving his community as an experienced family and marriage counsellor. Jim will be dearly missed by his surviving family: his loving wife Mary; children, Betsy (Thomas) Collin and James Grannan (Julie Sapsford); his siblings, Dick (Maureen) Grannan, Marianne Grannan and Patrick (Judy) Grannan; step children, several nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his first wife, Sharon (Flint) Grannan; a sister, Betty Graham and a brother, Paul Grannan. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Monday, May 16, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 12:00 pm from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. A private family interment will take place at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
