Obituary of Greta Oleavia Gilks
Gilks, Greta Oleavia (née Wright) – Greta, incomparable wife and mother, kind and gentle friend, artful and compassionate teacher, died at her home in Saint John, NB surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 92 years of age. She was born in Temple, NB to the late George Walter and Jennie Mildred Wright. Her loss is mourned by her beloved husband of 71 years, Ray Flemming Gilks; three daughters, Doris (Sam) Phillips, of Saint John, NB; Gloria (Cyril) Du Bois, of Chatham, ON; and Marita (Richard) Northrop, of Saint John, NB; three grandchildren, Rachelle (Dennis) Swicheniuk, of Saint John, NB; Andrew (Heather) Du Bois, of Duncan, BC; and Melanie Du Bois, of Chatham, ON; great granddaughter Melissa Du Bois, of Duncan, BC; and two sisters in law, Joyce Gilks and Joyce Wright. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Flewelling, twin sisters Marjorie Stairs and Mavis Minard, twin brothers Vincent and Vernon Wright, and brother Gerald Wright. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 2:00 PM from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 67 Magazine Street, Saint John, NB with a reception to follow.
