Obituary of Jane Neven McGregor Johnston
The death of Jane Johnston of Saint John, beloved wife of the late William "Bill" Johnston occurred on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on May 18, 1923 in Glasgow, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Janet (Paisley) Jack. Jane served during World War II and received a medal from the Women’s Land Army. Prior to her retirement, Jane was employed with Saint John Shipbuilding in the accounting department for 27 years. She was an avid bowler, pool and shuffleboard player. Jane is survived by two daughters, Morag Clark (Brian) of St. Martins and Sandra Cervantes (George) of Blacks Harbour; three grandchildren, Stephanie Roberts (Danny Grant), Justin Clark (Cara) and Marianna Ring (Eli); three great-grandchildren, Reid Roberts, Jamie Grant and Aiden Clark; great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Jane was also predeceased by her brother, Alexander Jack; sister, Jenny Stewart and son-in-law, Brian Clark. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A graveside service will be held at Ocean View Memorial Gardens, Latimore Lake Road, Saint John on Monday, August 8, 2016 at 11:00 AM. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue or a charity of the donor’s choice.
