Obituary of Donald C. Rinehart
With heavy hearts, the family of Don Rinehart, husband of the late Muriel (Power) Rinehart, announce his passing on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born January 16, 1920 in Saint John, he was a son of the late Harold and Ida (Cox) Rinehart. Don served with the Corps Mechanics of the 1st Canadian Division from 1939-1945. He was in England for the Blitz, and made his way through the Italian campaign and the Adriatic Fronts, and ended the War in Apeldoorn, Holland. Upon returning from Holland, he became a self-employed agent for Imperial Oil (Esso), and was known by many around the city as the "Oil Man". Don is survived by his daughter, Deb Rinehart (Gary Hamilton); a special nephew, Bill Harrington; brothers: Robert "Bob" (Shirley) and Gord; several nieces and nephews, and the love of his life, his grand-puppy, Charlie. Besides his parents and wife, Muriel, Don was predeceased by his sisters: Jean Butler and Helen Morrison; and his brother, George "Bud". Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday, February 6, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 12 noon from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel.
