Obituary of David Lawrence London

It is with heavy hearts the family of David Lawrence London, loving husband of Claudette (Chambers), announce his passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, May 2, 2017. Born in Saint John on May 10, 1948 he was a son of the late Frederick "Doc" and Eva (Winnie) London. David started his working career with Eastern Bakeries as a shipper for six years, before going onto work for SJ Shipbuilding as a machinist for 27 years until its closing, and finished his working career as a millwright for Local 2262 until an injury forced him to retire in 2004. He became close friends with all of his co-workers throughout the years. David’s greatest joy was his family. He was a proud husband, father and grandfather. He was best described as ‘quite the character’. He enjoyed hunting and fishing at his camp in Old Black River, and loved his time at Pleasant Lake. He was an avid hockey dad, and could often be found in the coldest rinks of Saint John supporting his children. In his early years he had a passion for boxing, and in his later years he had a passion for shopping, especially at the Co-Op, until its closing. In addition to his wife Claudette, David is survived by his children: Jeffery (Stacy) of Stirling, ON; Matthew (Angela) of Oromocto; Amy (Aaron Burns) of Saint John; Brandon (Lauren Lawlor) of Grand Bay-Westfield; and Shawn Bohanon of Princeton, Maine; siblings: Fred London Jr. and Diana (Kenny) Gogan, both of Saint John; uncle George Winnie of Saint John; eight grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister in law Brenda London. Visitation will be held at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) on Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 2-8 PM. A memorial service will be held from Brenan’s Bay View Chapel, 1461 Manawagonish Rd., Saint John, NB (634-7425) on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances in memory of David may be made to the SJRH Palliative Care Unit, Romero House, Bobby’s Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice.
