Obituary of Barbara Ann Richardson
It is with great sadness the family of Barbara A. (Cook) Richardson, wife of the late Dallas Warren Richardson, announces her passing on May 2, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on August 19, 1938 in Saint John to the late Joseph Cook and Hazel (Magee) Cook. Barbara worked for TS Simms and as a cleaner for the Dry Dock, and went on to work as a bus driver for 25 years before retirement. She loved her garden and planting, and knitting hats for the new babies at the Regional Hospital. She also had a passion for bowling, swimming, ceramics and feeding the birds. Survived by one son Dallas (Krisann) of St. Martins; two daughters Shelley (Mrs. Trevor Watson) and Katherine "Kit" (Mrs. Randy Gauthier), both of Damascus; four grandchildren: Travis, Shelley, Conrad and Tisha; two great grandchildren: Jaden and Jenessa; one sister Mrs. Dorothy Earle; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers in law and sisters in law. She was predeceased by two sisters: Madeline "Jiggs" and Hazel "Sis"; and five brothers: Gordon "Shorty", Joseph, Percy, Donald and Jack. The family would like extend their heartfelt thanks to all the doctors, nurses and volunteers at the Saint John Regional Hospital and to the staff of KV Extramural for all the care and compassion shown to Barbara over the years. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, (634-7424) with visitation on Friday, May 5, 2017 from 2-8 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place in Creightonville Cemetery on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 2:00 PM. For those who wish, remembrances in memory of Barbara may be made to Ability NB or a charity of the donor’s choice.
