Obituary of M. Sylvia McAloney
McAloney, M. Sylvia Passed away suddenly and peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, on February 25, 2005, with her beloved niece Barbara McKenney and Bruce Paterson by her side. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Born in Saint John (1923) she was the daughter of the late Sarah Jane (McLeod) and Ervin R. McAloney. She was employed as Personnel Officer at Centracare until her retirement. She had been a member of Westfield Golf & Country Club and the Church of St. John Baptist & St. Clement. During World War II she loved dancing in the Troop Shows throughout the province. Survived by her sister-in-law Shirley McAloney, Ottawa; nieces and nephews Barbara McKenney (Bruce Paterson), Saint John, Blair Kennedy (Brigitte), Scarborough, ON, Linda Smith, Pitt Meadows, BC, Colleen McAloney, Port Coquitlam, BC, Sheila Chisholm (Brian), Surrey, BC, Karen McAloney, Ottawa, ON, Janet Harmsen, Florida, Christine Napoli (Tony) New Jersey. Also, most loved great niece Beth McKenney, Mississauga, ON, and one great nephew Scott (Patricia) McKenney, Tampa, FL, and several other great nieces and nephews. Brothers; Raymond, Tilford, Harold, Blair and Hazen and sisters; Eleanor Kennedy and Alta DelVecchio predeceased her. At Sylvia's request there will be no visitation. The memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at 10:00 AM, from Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), Saint John. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to MindCare Foundation (c/o the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation) or the charity or the donor's choice would be appreciated.
