Obituary of Lida Emmeline Spinks NP
"Promoted to Glory" On Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Saint John, surrounded by her family, Lida Emmeline Spinks, 91, of Saint John peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, whom she loved and served so faithfully. Born in Campbellton, NB, she was the daughter of the late David and Mabel (Coull) Smith. Lida will be sadly missed by her three children, Rev. Sue Spinks of Edmonton, AB, Paul (Shawna) Spinks of Quispamsis and Wendy (Rob) Whitney of Saint John; her three grandchildren, Benjamin, Melissa and Payton; her sister-in-law, Mildred Smith and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Harold Spinks; three sisters, Ruby, Robina, and Alyuna and three brothers, Ran, Leslie and Lloyd. Lida was fully devoted to the Salvation Army and was a 1947 graduate of "The Warriors" Session of William Booth Memorial Training College in Toronto. She served as an Officer for several years before her marriage. Lida volunteered selflessly with many organizations. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Friday, October 27, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 1:00 PM. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank her doctors and the incredible staff of Floor 7, Mom’s home and extended family for the past nine months. We will be forever grateful for the care, love and compassion shown to her. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Salvation Army Café or to Rivercross Hope Mission would be appreciated by the family.
