Obituary
Obituary of Sandra Jean Scott
While we celebrate a life well lived, we grieve for the passing of Sandra Scott, which occurred peacefully with her family by her side, on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Turnbull Nursing Home. Born on September 25, 1937 in Saint John, Sandra was a daughter to the late Arthur and Ellen (Raymond) Belyea. Sandra was a graduate from Saint John Vocational School in 1955. Prior to having her family, she was employed with Canadian General Insurance then with the Saint John Housing Authority. Sandra began her family in 1963 and became a stay at home mother. She was a volunteer at Island View School and began their hot lunch program in 1974. Sandra also volunteered her time as a Girl Guide Leader at St. Mark’s United Church; where she was a long time member, and the Red Cross. She enjoyed curling and was a member of the Carleton Curling Club. In the mid 70’s Sandra was the President and Owner of Angel Real Estate. Sandra dedicated her life to her husband and family and later spending quality time with her two grandchildren. She always put her family before herself. Sandra’s door was always open and her kitchen, filled with home cooked treats, ready for anyone who arrived for a visit, entertaining both young and old. She was an attentive listener who had a gentle way of offering sound advice through non-intrusive story telling. Sandra was a gentle, kind, loving soul, who brought a certain calmness to whatever environment she was in. She was a true angel on earth. Sandra’s favourite past time was spending winters in Florida; awaiting the arrival of her husband and family. During the summer, she cherished her time spent on the Saint John River at their cottage in Gorham’s Bluff. She also enjoyed traveling through North America and Europe with her beloved husband. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Sandra will be lovingly remembered by her surviving family, her husband of 57 years Robert M. Scott, their children Robert B. (Shelley) Scott, Geoffrey Scott (James Campanile) and Jennifer Scott (Kevin Bradshaw), her grandchildren: Robert G. Scott and Allie Scott, siblings: Arthur (Joan) Belyea, Frances (Bill) Bambury and Nancy King, along with several nieces, nephews and members of her extended family. Besides her parents, Sandra was predeceased by her sister Donna Pratt. The family of Sandra Scott, would like to extend their heartfelt "Thank you" to the team at Turnbull Nursing Home for their undying support, compassion and care. Your kindness did not go unnoticed, Thank you. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, January 7 from 2-4 and 6-8. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 8 at 1:00 PM from St. Mark’s United Church, 50 Dexter Drive with interment to take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery in the spring.
