Obituary of Mary Alice Nixon
It is with heavy hearts the family of Mary Alice (Stevens) Nixon, announce her peaceful passing on January 25th, 2018 at the Loch Lomond Village. Born in Saint John on August 18th, 1927, she was a daughter of the late John (Jack) and Florence (Holburn) Stevens. Mary’s two passions in life were family and music. She was an honorary life time member of the ladies barbershop acapella chorus group, the Sea Belles, with whom she travelled and performed with for over 30 years. She enjoyed bowling with the ladies of Glenview, camping at Keenes Lake, was a member of Silver Falls United Church and its choir, and was also a former member of Exmouth Street United Church. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, and extended family. She will be greatly missed by her three children: Terry (Lena) Nixon of Sussex, NB, Wendy (Nixon) Bennett of Saint John, and Catherine (Nixon) Price of Rothesay, NB; one brother, Brian (Sherry) Stevens of Truro, NS; grandchildren: Lorie, Steven, Angela, Kimberley, Krista, Jennifer, Mark, and Shelley; great-grandchildren, Carly and Connor, Alex, Justin and Grayson, Rowan and Emmett, Kaitlyn and Kyle, Hailie and Kaleb; several nieces, nephews, and many friends. In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband of almost 60 years, Guy Nixon; her sisters, Pearl (Stevens) Storey and Irene Stevens; two brothers, James and John Stevens; sons-in-law, Thomas Price and Thomas Bennett; and grandson, Scott Bennett. The family would like to thank the staff of Willow House at Loch Lomond Village for their care and dedication, and a special thank you to Mary’s niece, Holly Ellis and nephew, John Stevens for their love and devotion. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 2 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held at Silver Falls United Church, 840 Loch Lomond Rd, Saint John, NB, on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 2 pm.
