Obituary of Mary E. Boyne
Stephanie and Colin Boyne are deeply saddened to announce the unexpected death of their mother, Missy (Mary Elaine) Boyne of Rothesay, N. B. on Sunday, September 4, 2005. Born in Cape Breton, Missy was the daughter of the late John Alexander and Isobel (Kelly) MacPherson. The recent death of her devoted husband, Bill Boyne, was an occasion of great sorrow on her behalf, as well as that of their children and the many people who cherished them. The love and support of so many others strengthened her innate belief in the goodness of people and in the value of family and friends. Locally raised and educated, Missy was a member and past president of St. Vincent's Alumni. A lady and a scholar, she attended UNB at both Saint John and Fredericton campuses, and followed her B.A. with a B.Ed. in 1975. She was an admired and respected teacher who began her career at Saint John High School and went on to teach at St. Vincent's High School. She was looking forward to returning to her students at Harbour View High school, where she had taught the past several years. Missy was an active member of her community and of St. Mark's Catholic Church, where she often helped with services and acted as the greeter. Her strong faith was a comfort to her and was part of the values and character that enabled her to be such a good parent and friend. An avid reader, Missy also enjoyed travelling and get-togethers with her and Bill's friends. She delighted in the many young people she encountered either through her children or her profession. In addition to her adored children, she nurtured all with her wit, wisdom and compassion. She was a true “people person”, and to know her was to love her. In addition to her daughter Stephanie and son Colin, Missy is survived by her brother Sandy MacPherson (Marie) of North Bay, Ontario. She was predeceased by her brother David MacPherson. She leaves her niece Toby Berry (Scott) of North Bay, Ontario and many cousins, family members, and friends. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday from 2 ? 4 and 6 ? 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mark's Catholic Church, Pettingill Road, Quispamsis on Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. Remembrances to a scholarship of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
