Obituary of Eva Saunders Larkin
LARKIN, EVA S. 1918-2005- The death of Eva Saunders Larkin of Saint John, wife of the late Fred N. Larkin, occurred on Monday, September 5, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Lake Ainslie, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Dan C. and Jessie (MacLean) MacDonald. Mrs. Larkin graduated from Nursing School in 1942 and served as a Lieutenant Nursing Sister in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps Field Hospital in St. George. Following her discharge in 1945, she was Nursing Coordinator at the Saint John Tuberculosis Association until 1952 where she was Director of home visiting and teaching public health. She was a member of St. David's United Church, Rothesay. She is survived by one son, Ross Larkin (Anna) of Calgary, AB, one daughter, Gail Thomas of Quispamsis, one brother, Charles N. MacDonald of Lake Ainslie, NS, one sister, Julia Cameron of Port Hawkesbury, NS, two grandchildren, Andrew and Graham, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sister, Hannah. A memorial service will be held at St. David's United Church, Rothesay, on Friday, September 9, 2005 at 4:00 PM. A private family graveside will be held at Fernhill Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the SPCA. Arrangements under the direction of Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, (634-7424).
