Obituary of Raymond Joseph Poirier
The death of Raymond Joseph Poirier, husband of Loretta (Manuel) Poirier, occurred on September 6, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Quebec he was the son of the late Odias and Victoire (Miousse) Poirier. He was employed with the Lantic Sugar Refinery before his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Parish and enjoyed boating, fishing and music. Besides his wife he is survived by his sons Eldore Martin (Diane) of Baie Ste. Anne, Alexis Martin (Marie) of Halifax, Claude Poirier of Calgary, his daughters Monica Neal (Walter) of Rothesay, Carol Poirier (Wayne Connell) of Grand Bay, his brother Albain Poirier (Evelyn) of Baie Ste. Anne, his sisters Louise McDonald (Maurice) of Montreal, Denise Drisdelle (Louie) of Montreal, Evangeline Martin (Sandy) of Baie Ste. Anne, Theresa Martin of Baie Ste. Anne, Yvette Manuel (Bertin) of Baie Ste. Anne, his 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. His daughters Melita Rackley and Carmel Poirier predeceased him. Following cremation visitation will be held at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 9, 2005, at 12 Noon, from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Interment will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers remembrances made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
