Obituary of Edward T. Murphy
The death of Edward T. “Bud” Murphy, formerly of Park Street, Saint John, husband of Marjorie (Daley) Murphy, occurred on Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late Francis Patrick and Josephine (Riley) Murphy. Bud was employed as a Hatter with Bardsley's Hats for 42 years and later was employed with Canada Permanent for 10 years before his retirement. He was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Parish and served on the Altar and was an avid reader and could be seen walking every day around the city. Besides Marjorie, his wife of sixty-six years, he is survived by two daughters, Carole Ann Mercer and Mary Lou Frame, of Fredericton, four grandchildren, Kelly and Sarah Mercer and Gregory and Keith Finley, five great grandchildren, Morgan, Claire, Rhys, Jackson and Brandon, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Christopher, James and Frank Murphy and two sisters, Evelyn Murphy and Muriel Devlin. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Church, Rockland Road, Saint John on Saturday, October 1, 2005 at 9:00 AM. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Remembrances to the charity of the donors' choice.
