Obituary of Verda Grace Chiasson
The death of Verda Grace Chiasson of Millidgeville, NB, wife of the late Joseph Patrick Chiasson, occurred on Friday, October 21, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Fairley's Corner, York Co., NB, a daughter of the late Everett and Alice May (MacKay) Hovey, Verda had been employed as a secretary in the Oncology Dept. at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Survived by four children: Theresa (Kenneth) Ogden of Hampton, NB, Bonita (Larry) Dent, Joseph (Sheila) Chiasson and Karen (Norman) Basque, all of British Columbia; four brothers: Everett “Mannie” (Ruby) Hovey and Galen (Kaye) Hovey of Ludlow, NB, Donald (Claudette) Hovey and Frederick “Law” (Audrey) Hovey of Ontario; two sisters: Queenie (Cal) Copeland and Sharon Stewart, both of Fredericton, NB; twelve grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and loving companion of nine years, Ken Babcock. Predeceased by son, Mark in July 2005; sisters: Neva Conroy and Isabel MacNeish. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB with visitation being held on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Pius X Church, Somerset St. on Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at 11 am. Interment will follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice.
