Obituary of Frederick Charles Emmerson
The death of Frederick Charles Emmerson of Kennebecasis Park, Rothesay, husband of Beryl (Cunningham-Smith) Emmerson occurred on Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born March 26, 1918 in London, England, he was the son of the late Gordon and Ethel Maude (Thompson) Emmerson. Charles was a twelve year Naval Veteran, serving in the Second World War and the Korean War. Following his retirement, he joined his brother's business, Eastern Paper, in 1952, retiring as President of the Company in 1981. He also served on the Board of Directors of Poly-Cello Ltd. Charles was a past member of the Renforth Lions Club and was an avid boater and sailor being a member of the RKYC and RYC. He was a major supporter and volunteer of the Renforth Rowing Club and was honoured with a rowing scull named after him. Besides his wife, Charles is survived by one brother, Philip Gordon Emmerson of Saint John; two sons, Richard P. Emmerson (Bernadette) of Rothesay and Philip C. Emmerson (Lisbeth) of Rothesay; one daughter, Louise Emmerson-Taylor (Frank) of Quispamsis; six grandchildren, Ryan, Randy and Lori Emmerson, Kim Taylor-Nickerson, Beth Taylor and Heather Porter; four great grandchildren, Andrew and Leah Porter, Taylor Nickerson, and Isaac Taylor; three step-children, Dawn Brunet (Ronald), Dale Smith (Sue) and Lynn Smith (Connell); three step-grandchildren, Drew Smith, Chris Smith and Mirage Brunet, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Annette (Houle) Emmerson and one brother, Stanley Emmerson. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday 7-9 PM and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, November 11, 2005 at 2:30 PM. A private family interment will take place on Saturday, November 12, 2005 at Fernhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the charity of the donors' choice would be appreciated.
