Obituary of Della Mary Farris
The death of Della Mary Farris of 149 Dresden Avenue, Saint John, wife of the late Eric M.R. Farris, occurred on Monday, November 21, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital following a 15 year battle with ill health. Born in Salmon Creek, NB, on June 3, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Hannah (Drost) Toussaint. Della's three children, Wanda (Peter Green), Gail (Paul Farnsworth) and Lance (Dawn) and her grandchildren Darren (Krista), Cara (Rob), Peter (Trena), Amy (Andrew), Danny (Mel), Seth (Clarissa) and Christie (Ray) and great grandchildren, Taylor, Olivia, Zane, Cole, Mya, Eric, Lola and Shayla wish to honour her passing. Della was predeceased by her parents, her husband Eric in 1970, one grandson, Ronnie Green, sister, Royce Meinhardt, step-brother, Donnie Cole and infant brothers, Ferdinand, Victor, Norman and Floyd. She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Loreina (Jack Davidson), James (Myrna), Judy (Frank Osmon), Linda (Richard Madore), Joanne and Leonard, her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Farris and Mary Ellen Cole, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Mom spent over 30 years in the hospitality industry, the majority of that time at the Riviera. Nan was an incredibly strong person who kept on going even when life threw her challenges. Despite multiple admissions to hospital she managed a valiant battle to live on and maintained her amazing sense of humor that has given our family many happy memories of time spent together. The family feels fortunate and grateful to have known the kindness and support of Dr. Peta Brunsdon and caregivers, Fay, Debbie and Christine who made it possible for her to maintain the independent lifestyle that she desired. Her strength has inspired family and friends and she departs us as a wonderful example of what our spirits can accomplish. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, November 24, 2005 at 1:00 PM. Interment in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Midland Cemetery, Minto, NB or the charity of the donors' choice would be appreciated.
