Obituary of Olive Porter

The death of Olive 'Faye' Porter, wife of the late John A. Porter, occurred on November 30, 2005 at the Carleton Kirk Lodge. Born at Carol's Crossing, NB, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Jessie (O'Donnell) Lyons. She was a member of St. Georges Anglican Church and belonged to the Thursday Morning Bible Study Martha and Mary's of St. Georges Anglican Church. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her sons; John of Saint John, Dale and his wife Brenda of Halifax, her daughters; Marie and her husband Murray Alchorn of Rothesay, Margaret 'Peggy' and her husband Ernest Watson of Saint John, Elaine and her husband Sean Calvin of Grand Bay-Westfield, Susan and her husband Peter Collett of Bartlett, IL, Lori and her husband Timothy Kelly of Quispamsis, her fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Mervin Lyons and his wife Marjorie of Milton, ON, her sisters; Betty Flanagan of Fredericton, Tory Long of Ludlow, Vesta Elson and her husband Lloyd of London, ON, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Her daughter Noreen, sisters; Queenie, Leta and Byrd and her brothers; Allan, Roy, Ivan and Reuben predeceased her. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424) with visiting on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2005, at 11:00 am, from St. Georges Anglican Church. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances made to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
