Obituary of Marlene Frances Grass

GRASS, Marlene Frances ? After a long and courageous battle with cancer, the death of Marlene Frances Grass (Walsh), wife of George Douglas Grass of Champlain Heights, Saint John, NB, occurred on Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John in 1953, a daughter of the late Francis Andrew and Frances Doreen Walsh (Garland). Marlene had been employed with Irving Oil Limited in accounting for 16 years and most recently was employed with Xerox Canada for 6 years as a customer service represenitive. She liked to bowl, write personalized poems, was an avid reader and was involved with her church as a Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent for over 25 years, being United by faith. Survived by her husband George, one daughter Angela Howell and one son Malcolm (Kelly) Grass. She leaves behind a beloved granddaughter, Amber Grass and will be missed by special canine friend Sam. She is survived by two sisters, Theresa Walsh of Nova Scotia and Margaret McKinnon; three brothers: Raymond, Frankie and Douglas Walsh all of Saint John. She says good-bye to special sister-in-law, Barbara Kneeland and special uncle, George Thomas of Saint John; sister-in-law, Mary Dugay (Joseph), brothers-in-law, Jim Grass (Lynn) of Saint John and John Grass (Rosanne) in Brazil; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. She will be sadly missed by her church family and her special friend, Jean Manzer. Besides her parents she was predeceased by father-in-law and mother-in-law, Douglas and Dorothy Grass. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Thursday from 7-9 pm and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2005 from Glenview United Church at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens at a later date. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
