Obituary of Burton Lloyd Cox

The death of Burton Lloyd 'Burt' Cox, husband of Dorothy (Beattie) Cox, of 48 years, occurred on January 18, 2006, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Byron and Alice (Silliphant) Cox. He was employed with the City of Saint John Fire Department retiring in 1994 as Captain after 32 years of service. He enjoyed camping and traveling and a good game of cards. Besides his wife he is survived by his daughter Brenda (Raymond Somerville) of Nauwigewauk, NB, sons Kevin (Ann) and Mark, of Summerville, NB, his brother Allan of Buffalo, NY, his grandchildren Vanessa (Jon), Alysia, Andrea, Katie and Jason, his great-granddaughter Ali and several cousins, nieces and nephews and his special canine companion Ben. His son Lloyd and brother Douglas predeceased him. Following cremation at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with the memorial service on Saturday, January 21, 2006, at 11:00 am, from Brenan's Chapel. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances made to the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation Ridgewood Addiction Services or the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated.
