Obituary of Clarence Ambrose Pond

The death of Clarence Ambrose Pond of Saint John, NB, occurred on Monday, February 6, 2006 at his residence. Born in Ludlow, NB a son of the late Mellow and Ivy (Hovey) Pond. Survived by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Lena (Joslin) Pond, one brother, Reginald Pond (Ruth) of Fredericton, NB; two sisters, Georgia Welch of Fredericton and Beatrice Johnston (Ronald) of McAdam and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Clarence was predeceased by two brothers, Hugh and Albert Pond and three sisters, Marjorie McNally, Leola Jewett and Iva Currie. He was a member of the Riverside United Church, Prince William, NB and also attended St. Mark's United Church, Saint John. Clarence was a builder of roads and bridges, having been employed by Dexter Construction Co. for forty-two years, retiring in 1975. He enjoyed his work, also his retirement during which time his hobby was woodworking. Many fine examples of his crafts may be seen at his home. He and Lena traveled extensively in Canada and the United States and were always interested in places and people. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424. Friends may call at the Pond home, 921 Dever Road, Saint John on Wednesday evening from 7 to 8:30 pm and at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home, 160 York Street, Fredericton from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Thursday. On Friday visiting will be held from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm at Riverside United Church, Prince William (8 km above the exit to Kings Landing) followed by Rev. Mac Campbell officiating the Funeral Service at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in the Prince William Cemetery Inc. at a later date. No flowers by request, for those who wish remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
