Obituary of MELISSA GAYLE SMITH
The death of Melissa Gayle (Jones) Smith of 81 Honeysuckle Drive, Saint John West, wife of Christopher Boyd Smith, occurred by accident on Sunday, February 19, 2006. Melissa was born in Calgary, AB, on January 8, 1977 and graduated from UNBSJ and the New Brunswick Community College, Saint John Campus in 1999 and was employed with Early Intervention Program and the New Brunswick Community College, Saint John. She also liased with various agencies within the community of Saint John and was a member of St. Matthews Presbyterian Church. Melissa studied piano and voice throughout her school years and was involved in musical productions at Saint John High School. She was a gifted soloist who touched the hearts of all who heard her. Melissa had a strong personal commitment to make a difference in children's lives. She enjoyed being with family and friends and was always there to lend a helping hand. Besides her husband, she is survived by her son, Cameron Boyd Smith, age 20 months, her mother, Gayle Capson (Jean Roger Blanchard) of Saint John, father, Stephen Jones (Sharon) of Medicine Hat, AB, brothers, Sean Aaron Jones (Candie) of Edmonton, AB and Kalen Christopher Capson of Saint John, father-in-law, Robert Smith (Gisele) of Moncton, mother-in-law, Judy Boyd of Saint John, several aunts, uncles, cousins and one nephew, Adrian Capson. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at the Church of St. John & St. Stephen, Coburg Street, Saint John on Friday, February 24, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Interment in Fernhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to Early Intervention for Music/Books or New Direction Inc. for residents special needs would be appreciated.
