Obituary of Dorothy M. ”Doris” MacGillivray
The death of Dorothy M. ”Doris” MacGillivray, of 55 Magazine Street, Saint John, wife of the late Ronald J. MacGillivray, occurred on Friday, February 24, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on January 20, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Robert T. and Frances Theresa (McGivern) Furlong. Doris resided in Toronto for 12 years and Cranston, Rhode Island for over 30 years before returning to Saint John in 1979. She is survived by brother-in-law, Gerard McGillivray (Margaret) of Halifax, NS, two sisters-in-law, Helen Cutler of Saint John and Claire McGowan (Murray) of Saint John, several nieces, nephews and special friend, Ghislaine Roussel of Saint John. She was predeceased by a son, Robert John MacGillivray, brother, Preston T. Furlong and sister, Mary (Molly) Connors. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception on Monday, February 27, 2006 at 12:00 Noon. Interment will take place on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at 11:30 AM at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Remembrances to the charity of the donors' choice would be appreciated.
