Obituary of Barbara Ann Hutchings
One of God's faithful prayer warriors, Annie Barbara Hutchings, died on Saturday, March 18, 2006, in the palliative care unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by the family she loved. She was 86 years old. Wallace (Wally) Hutchings, her husband of nearly 54 years, predeceased her in 1997. Born in Gagetown, NB on Aug. 5, 1919, she was a daughter of the late William and Mary (Murray) Belyea. She had lived in Saint John for most of her life. A graduate of Saint John Vocational School and Modern Business College, Barbara worked in the Income Tax office until her marriage on June 5, 1943, at St. John's Anglican Church, Gagetown. Mrs. Hutchings was a former member of Full Gospel Assembly and First United Pentecostal Church. In later years, she was a member of Victory Assembly on Gault Road, where she was lovingly referred to as "Mom" by most of the congregation. This faithful "prayer warrior" was there whenever a prayer meeting was called. She is survived by two daughters, Melody (Mike) Mullen and Betty (Rev. Philip) Prosser, both of Saint John; four sons, Bill of Hamilton, Ont., Murray (Marlene) of Saint John, Jim (Laurie) of Nauwigewauk and Paul of Saint John; two sisters, Marjorie Tyrell of St. Stephen and Jean Shea of Sudbury, Ont.; four grandsons, Nathan, Mike, Jonathan and Philip; four granddaughters, Kimberly, Andrea, Heather and Natasha; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her husband and parents, Mrs. Hutchings was predeceased by four brothers: Murray, Robert, William and Jackie. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Sunday and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral will be held from Full Gospel Assembly, Mount Pleasant Ave. (East) on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 11 am. Interment will follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Victory Assembly Building Fund or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
