Obituary of Jean Elizabeth Schriver
The death of Jean Elizabeth (Allan) Schriver, wife of William Schriver of Lakeside, NB, occurred on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. Born on December 9, 1949 in Sussex, NB, a daughter of the late Henry and Ruth (Wright) Allan. Over the years Jean worked for School District # 6, Smet Monuments and various nursing homes. Jean was very community minded and volunteered for hot lunch programs and school trips. A former member of Hampton Legion Branch # 28, a life member of the Progressive Conservative Party of NB and was very active with Play Ball for St. Joe's for a number of years. Jean loved to knit and make crafts for her grandchildren, whom she dearly loved. Besides her husband she is survived by three daughters: Marlene (Bev) Bettle of Passekeag, NB, Priscilla (Glendon) McQuade of Rothesay, NB and Wanda Hyslop of Hampton, NB; one son, Allan (Stephanie) Schriver of Sussex; one special nephew - who was always like a son - John (Cindy) Allan of Hamilton, ON; seven grandsons: Thomas Bettle, Matthew Bettle, Jeffrey McQuade, Eric McQuade, Ben Hyslop, Corey Hyslop and Allan Schriver; three granddaughters: Rebekka Bettle, Emma McQuade and Kelsey Schriver; three sisters: Margaret (Robert) Howe of Saint John, Doris Kellar of Saint John and Janet Gillett of Hamilton; several aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces. Predeceased by her parents, a sister, Patricia Bradley and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Schriver. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at 11 am. Interment will be in Titus Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
