Obituary of Ligoura L. McDonough
McDONOUGH, LIGOURA L.- The death of Ligoura Lillian McDonough of Millidgeville, Saint John, wife of Roy M. McDonough, mother of Dr. Charlene M. McDonough and mother-in-law of Jeffrey A. Baxter, occurred unexpectedly on Monday, April 10, 2006, surrounded by her loving family, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John she was the daughter of the late Charles T. and Lillian (Zed) French. Ligoura graduated from St. Vincent's High School and Provincial Normal School (Teacher's College) and had taught at St. John the Baptist, St. Peter's, St. Malachy's, Princess Anne and for many years at St. Joseph's School. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Rothesay, St. Vincent's Alumnae, the Canadian Lebanon Association and the Retired Teacher's Association. She will be remembered by former students and fellow educators as a caring and committed teacher who touched the lives of all who had the good fortune of knowing her. Friends will remember Ligoura as one of those gifted people who knew how to make everyone feel special and important no matter the occasion. She was a lady who was present to celebrate the accomplishments of family, friends and community and who was present to support all in times of need. Ligoura was a lady who will be missed. Besides her husband, and daughter she is survived by one brother, Donald J. French (Sheila) of Saint John, sister-in-law, Diane French of Fredericton, nieces, Pamela Marie French of Fredericton, Joanna Siauw (Michael) of Halifax, NS, Alison French (Mario Scichilone) of Saint John, and Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Stanton (Steve) of England, nephews, Charles French (Violet) of Toronto, ON, Peter French (Dawn) of Fredericton and Donald Joseph "DJ" French of Halifax, NS and many other cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Charles Thomas French. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Rothesay on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at 12:00 Noon. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Remembrances to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, the Canadian Diabetes Association or the charity of the donors' choice would be appreciated.
