Obituary of Walter N. MacEwen
The death of Walter Naylor MacEwen of Douglas Avenue, Saint John, NB, husband of the late Laurena Janice (Fraser) MacEwen, occurred on April 29, 2006 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Stanley Bridge, PEI, he was a son of the late Ernest and Euphemia (MacKenzie) MacEwen. Walter worked many years with the Saint John Transit were he was a dispatcher until his retirement in 1997, he enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid bowler. Survived by his four daughters: Judy (Nelson) McCavour of Welsford, NB, JoAnne (David) Carroll of Saint John, Cathy (Michael) MacEwen, of Windsor, ON, Janice MacEwen of Saint John; one son, William (Darlene) MacEwen of Rothesay, NB; seven grandchildren: JoAnne Melissa, Joel, Vanessa, Jesse, Katie, Chelsey, and Jeremy; two sisters, Vivian Renahan of Halifax, NS and Anna Moreside of Charlottetown, PEI; one brother, Danny (Phyllis) MacEwen of Ontario; several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents he was predeceased by a brother, George. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424), with visiting on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at 11 am from Brenan's Chapel. Internment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Alzheimer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
