Obituary of Gilbert Valley

The death of Gilbert 'DeGrace' Valley, husband of Carol (Stevens) Valley, occurred on May 7, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Antoine and Ernestine (McGraw) DeGrace. He was employed as a Steel Fitter having worked for various companies including Ocean Steel and Saint John Ship Building Ltd. Besides his wife he is survived by children Guy Palmer and Barbara Basque (Elide), grandchildren Allan, Kevin, Keith, Rene and Reno, sisters Theresa Brideau (Gerard), Claudette Losier (Jean Yves), Fernand Gautreau, half brother Walter Peters (Kathy), half sisters Faith, Jean and Barbara, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his half brother Gerard Peters. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), Saint John, with visiting on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral will be celebrated on Thursday, May 11, 2006, at 11:00 am, from Brenan's Chapel followed by cremation. Remembrances made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
