Obituary of Ethel Van Horne
Surrounded by her family, the death of Ethel Van Horne, wife of the late Leo Charles Van Horne, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on May 7th, 2006. Born on February 28th, 1920 in Taymouth, NB to the late James and Christine (Barton) Somerville. Ethel was a devoted wife and mother who loved life and enjoyed to laugh and make others laugh. In her spare time, Ethel's hobbies consisted of drawing, knitting and playing the guitar. She was also a member of the Taymouth United Church. Ethel is survived by two sons: Gary (Cathy) of Fredericton, NB and Garth (Nancy) of Souris, MB; four daughters: Judith Rau of Welsford, NB, Linda (John) Rouselle of Fredericton, NB, Susan (Norman) Livingston of Minto, NB and Karen Woon of Timmins, ON; two sisters Jean Edney of Taymouth, NB and Dorothy Van Horn of Port Hope, ON; 15 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by an infant daughter Janie Dawn; an infant son Jimmy; two sons in-law: Rudi Rau and Mike Woon; two sisters and two brothers. At Ethel's request there will be no traditional visitation or funeral service. The family will hold a get together at the family home at a later date to celebrate Ethel's Life. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
