Obituary of George Pettingell Beyea
The death of George Beyea, of the Carleton Kirk Lodge (formally of City Line) husband of the late Doris (Watson) Beyea occurred at his residence, on May 12th, 2006. Born in Saint John, NB on Feburary 5th, 1915 to the late James and Ida (Pettingell) Beyea. During World War II, George was stationed in Canada from coast to coast, training the men to go over seas. After the War George attended UNB, where he obtained his BA, MA and BED. Mr. Beyea taught in the public school system from 1950-1960 at Simonds High School; was principal of Simonds Junior High from 1960-1970 and principal of Bayside Junior High from 1970-1975 when he retired. George was instrumental in the founding of the 527 Squadron of Air Cadets at Simonds High School. He was a member of Silver Falls United Church and a life member of the United Board, as well as a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #58 Rothesay and the Saint John Kiwanis Golden "K". George is survived by two daughters: Barbara (Albert) Palmer of Saint John, NB and Nanci (Stan) Ruthen of London, ON; one brother James and one sister Edith Landry both of Saint John, NB; six grandchildren: George, Steven, Kenneth, Christopher, Sean, and April; ten great grand children: Bradley, Adam, Ricky, Emily, Keith, Colin, Liam, Sarah, Abbi, and Ethan. At George's request there will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at Silver Falls United Church on Tuesday, May 23rd, 2006 at 2:00 pm because of family travel. Internment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens after the service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Silver Falls or Carlton Kirk United Churches.
