Obituary of Charles Walter Quinn
The death of Charles Walter Quinn of Grand Bay-Westfield, husband of Gladys L. (Poore) Quinn, occurred on Friday, July 7, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on December 5, 1915, he was the son of the late Walter Patrick and Ena (Campbell) Quinn. Mr. Quinn was a veteran of World War II, serving as Battery Sergeant Major of the 8th Anti-Aircraft with the Canadian Army. Walter was employed for many years with Wasson’s Drug Store before his retirement. He loved music, making people laugh and loved to tell stories. He will be sadly missed. Besides his wife, he is survived by on son, Gerald Walter Quinn (Rosemarie) of Moncton, one daughter, Linda Marilyn Norman (Floyd) of Saint John West, two brothers, John Quinn and Warren Quinn (Zaida), two sisters, Gladys Martin and Edrys Wright, four grandchildren, Jeffrey and Daniel Quinn, Tim Norman and Tanya Carr (Chris), three great grandchildren, Madison Rogers Norman, Owen and Tyson Carr, several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Clara Quinn, Ena Cochrane and Grace Fry. By request there will be no visiting. A private family service will be held at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Field of Honour. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the charity of the donors’ choice would be appreciated. The family would like to thank the Doctor's, Nurses and Staff of 5C North at the Saint John Regional Hospital for the devoted care and compassion that was shown to Walter and them.
