Obituary of Gretchen MacFarlane

The death of Gretchen MacFarlane, wife of Murray MacFarlane of Newman Street, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on July 25th, 2006. Born on September 7th, 1922, in Centreville, NB to the late Scott and Annie (Cronkite) McAuley. She was a member of St. Matthew’s Presbyterian Church, the Woman’s Missionary Society and the Ladies Group there. Besides her husband Gretchen is survived by one son John (Dom) from Brampton, ON, one grandson Christopher (Sylvie) and one great grandson Aidan. Her parents, one sister and two brothers all predeceased her. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). At Gretchen’s request there be will be no traditional visitation or funeral service. A graveside service will be held at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery on Friday, July 28th, 2006 at 2 pm. Remembrances may be made to St. Matthew’s Memorial Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice.
