Obituary of Doris Patricia Furness
The death of Doris Furness of Quispamsis, NB, wife of the late W. Louis Furness occurred on August 4, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on March 17, 1920 in Saint John, NB, daughter of the late Frank and Catherine (McGoldrick) Mullin. She worked for the City of Saint John for many years as a Billing Clerk and was a member of Local 486. Doris enjoyed summering in St. Andrews (Bayside) Island View Campground, playing cards with her friends, exercising (member of 3F Club and Goodlife) and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish. Above all, she loved spending time with her five grandchildren. Doris is survived by two sons: Peter (Heike) of Saint John, NB and Anthony “Tony” (Lynn) of Quispamsis, NB; one sister and best friend: Maryon Fisher of Saint John, NB; five grandchildren: Tricia, Jeffrey, Katrina, Christopher and Lisa Furness; special niece: Deirdre (Colin) MacKinnon and special nephew: Derek (Donna) Fisher. Besides her husband and parents, Doris was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish on Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at 12 noon. Interment will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at 10 am. Remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
