Obituary of Roland Grant Thomas
The death of Roland “Rollie” Grant Thomas of Grand Bay … Westfield, NB, husband of Constance Lorraine (McCormick) occurred on Monday, August 21, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born, July 20, 1932 in Devon, NB, a son of the late Frederick and Eva (Grant) Thomas. Rollie worked with his father for many years at Thomas Transfer before going to work at Maritime Paper. His greatest passion in life was his family and friends. Roland enjoyed fishing and hunting and he was an avid sportsman who spent many years coaching minor hockey. Survived by his wife, Connie; two sons, James and Gerald (Diane) and a daughter, Beth ( Bill) Parker, all of Saint John, NB; four sisters: Jean Bursey of Saint John, Marjorie (Rod) Mizener of Dundas, ON, Patricia (Ralph) Hawkes of Hartland, NB and Wendy Chisholm of Dartmouth, NS; one brother, Richard (Shirley) Thomas, one brother-in-law, Ralph McLenaghan, two sisters-in-law, Barbara Cook and Shirley Brothers, all of Saint John; he was a proud and loving grandfather to his six grandchildren: Kimberly, Robbie, Michael, Jamie, Melissa and Jennifer, all of Saint John; an aunt, Amelia Grant of Fredericton, NB; an uncle, Willie Thomas of Cardigan, NB; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by one sister, Marlene McLenaghan; brother-in-law, Joseph Bursey; and his nephew, Stephen Bursey. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2006 at 11 am from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will be in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
