Obituary of Charles Martin Van Tassel
The death of Charles Martin Van Tassel, of Saint John, husband of Eileen (Ducey) Van Tassel, occurred on Thursday, October 2, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Jamaica Plains, Boston, USA, he was the son of the late James Martin and Eva (White) Van Tassel. Mr. Van Tassel was a veteran of World War II and was employed with Lawton's Ltd. for many years, before his retirement. He was a member of Union #213, Plumbers and Pipe Fitters of America, the I.O.F., the Maritime Twin Cities Caravan Club and St. James Anglican Church, Broad Street. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, James M. Van Tassel (Joy) of Perth-Andover, one daughter, Janet Mascitelli (Mario) of Unionville, ON, two sisters, Evelyn Maddalana of Halifax, NS and Annie Campbell of Burlington, ON, five grandchildren, Sarah, Lynn and Kate Van Tassel of Perth-Andover and Nathan and Jessica Mascitelli of Unionville, ON, several nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, October 4, 2003 at 2:00 PM. Following cremation, interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens on Monday, October 6, 2003 at 11:00 AM. Remembrances to the Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit, the Extra Mural Hospital Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donors choice would be appreciated.
